pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution, ranging from 0 to 14 and defined by the concentration of hydrogen (H⁺) ions. A pH sensor quantifies this by measuring the potential difference between two electrodes: a reference electrode (silver/silver chloride) and a glass electrode sensitive to hydrogen ions—together forming the probe.
An accompanying signal conditioning circuit processes the probe’s output, allowing seamless integration with microcontrollers such as Arduino for accurate pH measurement in various applications.
